Camp Randall Stadium sculpture installation rescheduled
The installation of Nail’s Tales, a 48-foot-tall sculpture by internationally acclaimed artist Donald Lipski, has been rescheduled for Thursday, Nov. 3.
The concrete, steel, stone and resin sculpture uses the ancient form of an obelisk — a form similar in shape to the Washington Monument — from which emerges a towering pile of footballs.
The sculpture originally was scheduled for installation in October, but difficulties in the sculpture’s fabrication caused a delay.
The work was commissioned by the Wisconsin Arts Board’s Percent for Art program. It will stand on a pedestal on Breese Terrace and Regent Street.
Plans call for the sculpture to arrive by truck at the site at 7 a.m. and be vertical between 9 and 10 a.m.
Lipski hopes the sculpture will become its own tradition, becoming a convenient and identifiable game-day meeting spot for football fans.
