Speaker planned for Women’s Health Leadership Conference
The Center for Women’s Health Research will host a free lecture by Susan Wood, former director of the Food and Drug Administration’s Office on Women’s Health.
The event will be held in conjunction with the center’s seventh annual conference.
Wood will speak on “Women’s Health: Emergency Contraception and the FDA” at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, at the Fluno Center.
Wood is adjunct associate professor at American University, where she has taught women’s health policy since 2001. Previously, Wood was the director for policy and program development at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health, where she led the development of policy for the office. She also coordinated the activities of the Public Health Service Coordinating Committee on Women’s Health and represented the office in the areas of international health, reproductive health, legislation and health care policy.
