Javanese gamelan troupe will present epic excerpt

Grave danger befalls a princess, her husband and his brother, the result of an encounter with an enchanted golden deer in an excerpt from the Javanese epic “Ramayana.”

It will be this spring’s concert by UW–Madison Javanese gamelan scholars and students, presented at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, at Mills Concert Hall in the Mosse Humanities Building. The performance, featuring guest dancer Valerie Mau Vetter and visiting musicians Rene Lyslofff and Roger Vetter, is free and open to the public.
