From Wisconsin Week of May 3, 1995: Chancellor David Ward began discussions outlining the university’s plans for the next decade, with priorities including maintaining research pre-eminence, rethinking university organization, updating the Wisconsin Idea and using technology wisely Traffic, parking and circulation dominated a campus master plan meeting, where proposals included creating new open space corridors and areas as an organizing element for campus buildings and areas, converting Linden Drive into a transit/open space corridor restricted to bicycles, buses, pedestrians, vehicles with special permits and emergency and service vehicles, and making Mills and Charter streets into one-way streets.
