My UW never rests

With millions of page views every month and tens of thousands of unique users, My UW–Madison is a busy information resource. It’s even setting some records.

On January 18, almost 30,000 unique users logged in to My UW more than 93,000 times. In one five-minute period, almost 1,200 people were using My UW concurrently. Shortly after noon on that day, My UW was handling page requests at a rate of 1,311 a minute.

That new all-time record eclipsed the old mark, set last September. In fact, a new usage record has been set at the beginning of each semester since My UW launched in 2002.

How are people accessing My UW–Madison? While 84% of visits to the portal come via Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser, a new Number Two has emerged. Mozilla Firefox is now the second most popular browser for viewing My UW.
