Canada/Wisconsin technology roundtable set for March 15

Madison will be the site of a “Canada/Wisconsin Technology Roundtable” on Tuesday, March 15.

Sponsors of the event, which will be held at the Overture Center for the Arts, 201 State St., are the Canadian Consulate General in Chicago, the UW–Madison Office of Corporate Relations (OCR), the Wisconsin Technology Council and the law firm of Blake, Cassels & Graydon.

The objectives of the half-day meeting are to explore research collaborations, technology transfer opportunities, more university-industry partnerships and the possibilities of increased commercialization activities.

The roundtable is open to Wisconsin’s technology community and others with a vested interest in its vitality and growth.

Charles Hoslet, managing director of OCR, says the roundtable “offers the Wisconsin business community and its partners in higher education a great opportunity to explore how advances in technology can lead to new opportunities in Canada, which, like Wisconsin, is a world leader in the life sciences.”

Deborah A. Ceilin, investment development officer for the Consulate General of Canada in Chicago, will moderate the 1-5:30 p.m. roundtable. Scheduled to take part in the roundtable from Canada include representatives of the University of Toronto Innovations Foundation, the McGill University Office of Technology Transfer, Westlink Innovation Network Ltd., the Ontario Society for Excellence in Technology Transfer and the Atlantic Research Commercial Network.

Wisconsin participants in the event include Hoslet; Tom Still, director of the Wisconsin Technology Council; a representative of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation; the Medical College of Wisconsin Research Foundation; and the Center for Advanced Technology and Innovation.
