A class I am taking requires that I attend a dance performance. Where can I find a list of UW–Madison dance performances?
The UW–Madison School of Dance offers many performances each semester, including student and faculty recitals, “Friday Forums” with guest artists and more. Most performances are held at Lathrop Hall on University Avenue. You can find a complete calendar of events by visiting http://www.soemadison.wisc.edu/dance and clicking on “current calendar.”
Libraries ranked fifth in cataloging contribution
The Online Computer Library Center ranked the UW–Madison Libraries as the fifth highest worldwide contributor of original cataloging to WorldCat, the world’s largest virtual catalog.
Last year, staff in the UW–Madison Libraries generated 24,073 original records for the database.
The Online Computer Library Center’s 2003-04 annual report notes that WorldCat holds more than 55 million records for materials dating from 2150 B.C. to the present.

The library center is a nonprofit worldwide library cooperative that offers services used by more than 50,540 libraries in 84 countries and territories.
Continuing studies offers language courses
Noncredit courses in beginning language and culture for French, Spanish, Italian and Norwegian will begin this month.
With these courses from the Division of Continuing Studies, participants learn to communicate in various social and cultural situations. Taught in an informal and relaxed atmosphere, the courses are for travelers and others who want to learn a new language.

Classes for reading knowledge are available in French and Spanish. Advanced classes are offered in all languages except Norwegian later in the semester.
