Chalk-a-block
Seen primarily as a shadow, Martin Gutierrez, a student from West High School, works on a mural titled “You Shall See the Colors of Columbia” during Chalk Fest 2004, held in the 100 block of State Street on Oct. 9. Under the mentorship of UW–Madison graduate and undergraduate arts students, some 80 students from eight area high schools formed teams to design and draw sections of a block-long mural.
