Awards offered for efficiency ideas
Public workers with innovative ideas on how to improve the quality and efficiency of government in Wisconsin can compete for $500 Lloyd D. Gladfelter Awards being administered by the Department of Political Science.
“At a time when government budgets are stretched thin, it is important that we all stay focused on spending every taxpayer dollar efficiently while delivering the highest quality services,” Gov. Jim Doyle says. Mark Beissinger, chair of political science, says he hopes the awards will spur creative thinking about how government can work better.
The Gladfelter awards, established through a gift from the Milwaukee Foundation Corporation to the UW Foundation, honor public employees with the best suggestions to improve federal, state, county or local government.
Workers can apply at http://www.polisci.wisc.edu/alumni/award.asp. The deadline has been extended to Friday, March 12.
