Wiley to kick off outreach series
Faculty can learn more about outreach opportunities through a series that starts Wednesday, March 3, with a presentation by Chancellor John D. Wiley about the importance of outreach.
Mary Anne Fitzpatrick, deputy dean of the College of Letters and Science, will join Wiley at the series kickoff, “Amplifying the Wisconsin Idea: Why Do Outreach?” and examine the personal value of outreach. The event will be held 8:45-9:30 a.m. in the Fluno Center.
“Outreach is a great way for faculty to tell the people of Wisconsin and alumni about the importance of the contributions that UW–Madison faculty and staff make,” event coordinator Sarah Schutt says.
Attendees can learn how to get involved with the Wisconsin Alumni Association, the Division of Continuing Studies’ Wisconsin Alumni Lifelong Learning program and the campus Speakers Bureau, in addition to opportunities that arise within departments, schools and colleges.
Organized in conjunction with the Office of Human Resource Development, additional discussions in the spring will offer “tips and tricks” for doing outreach.
