Katie Diehl, a veterinary ophthalmology resident, performs a follow-up exam on a great horned owl recovering from cataract surgery at the School of Veterinary Medicine. The bird’s eyes were found to be healing well. Sue and Jeff Theys, caretakers at Wildlife of Wisconsin, a wildlife rehabilitation organization in Manitowoc County, hope to move the owl to a larger flight cage in the spring to see if it can hunt live prey before they release it back into the wild.
