Alberta Gloria, associate professor of counseling psychology, received the 2003 Kenneth and Mamie Clark Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Professional Development of Ethnic Minority Graduate Students.
The School of Human Ecology presented Excellence in Outreach Awards this fall to faculty for their work in three distinct types of outreach — teaching, research and service. Stephen Small, professor of human development and family studies, received the Excellence in Outreach Award for Teaching for his work with the Hmong Family Strengthening Project in Eau Claire. Judi Bartfeld, professor of consumer science, received the Excellence in Outreach Award for Research for her work on food-related hardships in Wisconsin. Michael Gutter, professor of consumer science, received the Excellence in Outreach Award for Service for promoting financial education. The Excellence in Outreach recognition carries a $500 award, which is supported in part by the Morgridge Center for Public Service.
OTHER MILESTONES
Dave Dickson, emeritus professor of dairy science, and Ted Halbach, dairy science senior outreach specialist, coached a team of UW–Madison dairy cattle judges to ninth place at the 35th All American Dairy Show Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest Sept. 22 at Harrisburg, Pa., first place at the Southern Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest Sept. 27 at the Mid-South Fair in Memphis, Tenn., and second place at the 83rd National Collegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest Sept. 30 at World Dairy Expo in Madison.
