School of Music plans dynamic concert season

Ensembles large and small, and music ranging from old favorites to premieres, are on the School of Music‘s performance agenda for the fall semester.

“Madison’s quality of life is legendary, and part of that phenomenon surely is based on its rich cultural offerings,” says John Schaffer, the school’s director. “Our concert series can serve as a launching pad from which to explore a whole world of musical expression.”

In September the school will present:

• Faculty members Cynthia Cameron-Fix, bassoon; Dale Fix, piano and harpsichord; and Linda Bartley, clarinet. Saturday, Sept. 13, 8 p.m., Mills Concert Hall, Mosse Humanities Building.
• Professor of piano and music technology Todd Welbourne. Friday, Sept. 19, 8 p.m., Morphy Concert Hall, Mosse Humanities Building.
• Associate lecturer in voice Julia Faulkner, soprano, and Bill Lutes, piano. Sunday, Sept. 21, 4 p.m., Music Hall.
• Faculty members Stephanie Jutt, flute; Parry Karp, cello; and Jeffrey Sykes, piano. Saturday, Sept. 27, 8 p.m., Mills Hall.
• UW-Madison ensemble-in-residence the Pro Arte Quartet (David Perry and Suzanne Beia, violins; Sally Chisolm, viola; and Parry Karp, cello). Sunday, Sept. 28, 7:30 p.m., Mills Hall.
