LGBT Campus Center finalists to visit

The UW–Madison community is invited to meet five finalists the position of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Campus Center director.

The LGBT Campus Center, a newly reorganized unit of the Dean of Students office, is responsible for fostering a learning environment that supports the academic, personal, and interpersonal growth and development of LGBT students.

All students are invited to attend open sessions to meet the finalists and ask questions. They finalists are:

Jeff Dongvillo, assistant professor of social work at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Mich. 2:30 p.m., Monday, July 28, in the LGBT Student Center, 2nd floor of the Memorial Union.

S. Alexandria Anderson, research coordinator at Illinois State University at Normal. 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, in the LGBT Student Center, 2nd floor of the Memorial Union.

Brett Beemyn, coordinator of GLBT student services at Ohio State University; 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, in the LGBT Student Center, 2nd floor of the Memorial Union.

Eric Trekell, director of student support services at Adams State College in Alamosa, Co., 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31, in the LGBT Student Center, 2nd floor of the Memorial Union.

Erica Sue Baumer, career advisor and internship coordinator in the School of Human Ecology Career Services Office at UW–Madison. 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 7, in the LGBT Student Center, 2nd floor of the Memorial Union.

Although students will continue to play an important leadership role in the LGBT Campus Center, the new director is expected to help improve services by providing continuity and efficiency, says UW–Madison Dean of Students Luoluo Hong.
