Liu named director of Center for Climatic Research
Zhengyu Liu, professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences and environmental studies, has been appointed director of the Center for Climatic Research. A research arm of the Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, the center studies present, future and past climates. Its faculty, research scientists and graduate students explore links between ecosystems and climate, and civilizations and climate, and assess the impact of climate variability on water, food and energy resources.
Liu is an internationally recognized scientist in climate research, including theoretical and numerical modeling studies of ocean dynamics and the coupled dynamics of the atmosphere and ocean.
