Listening sessions scheduled for new provost search

February 20, 2019 By Käri Knutson

The campus community has the opportunity to weigh in on the search for the next provost at three public listening sessions.

The 17-member search and screen committee is interested in knowing what qualities people would like them to look for as recruitment and evaluation of candidates begins.

The sessions are scheduled as follows:

– Friday, Feb. 22, 2 to 3 p.m., Wisconsin Idea Room, School of Education

– Monday, Feb. 25, 9 to 10 a.m., Health Sciences Learning Center, Room 1325

-Wednesday, Feb. 27, Noon to 1 p.m., Memorial Union (Room TBD – Check TITU)

Members of the UW–Madison community are strongly encouraged to nominate candidates, or to apply directly. To nominate a candidate, send a name and institutional affiliation to UWMadisonProvost@storbecksearch.com. You do not need to provide a letter or supporting material and the committee will follow up on all nominations. If you do plan on nominating candidates, please do so as soon as possible as the deadline for applications is March 6. The search firm will follow up on nominations.

The position description is here.

For questions or comments, contact Carole Kolb, administrative search coordinator, at carole.kolb@wisc.edu or (608) 890-1661.

The successful candidate will succeed Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Sarah Mangelsdorf, who will have served in the role for five years. In December, it was announced that she will depart UW–Madison at the end of the 2018-19 academic year to assume the presidency of the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York.
