Former official to talk on Argentine economy

Federico Sturzenegger, former secretary of economic policy, Argentina, will visit campus Monday, May 6, to explain Argentina’s current economic crisis.

Sturzenegger’s free public talk is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m., Alumni Lounge, Pyle Center, 702 Langdon St.

Sturzenegger is a professor of economics at the School of Business at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Until last December, he was Argentina’s secretary of economic policy.

Prior to serving in the government, he was business dean at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. He has worked as a consultant for the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Central Bank of Ukraine. In 1999, the Davos Economic Forum selected him as one of the “100 Global Leaders of Tomorrow”. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
