Alternative breaks offered

March 19, 2002

During UW–Madison’s spring break March 23-31, about 90 students will participate in community-oriented alternative breaks at nine sites across the country.

During the break, students will work with migrant workers, in animal refuges, homeless shelters and Habitat for Humanity programs, among many other activities. The programs help give students options beyond spring break tours that have become known for excessive drinking and unruly behavior.

Coordinated through the Morgridge Center for Public Service, programs also are planned in Montana, Utah, Washington state and Ireland. Information: 262-7896.
