Milestones
Larry Bank, professor, civil and environmental engineering, has received the Richard R. Torrens Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers. The award honors volunteer journal editors who have made outstanding contributions to ASCE. Bank is editor in chief for the ASCE Journal of Composites Construction, a publication he was instrumental in founding in 1996.
Vicki Bier, professor, industrial engineering and engineering physics, delivered the keynote address at the 2001 Nuclear Industry Consolidation and Deregulation Issues Workshop at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Rockville, Md.
William A. Craig, professor of medicine and pharmaceutics, has been awarded the Infectious Diseases Society of America 2001 Bristol Award. The award honors major contributors to the acquisition and the dissemination of knowledge about infectious disease. Craig is nationally and internationally recognized for his work.
Louise S. Robbins, director of the School of Library and Information Studies, has been named Wisconsin Library Association Librarian of the Year.
