Norris retiring as budget director, Klippel gets interim post
Longtime UW–Madison Budget Director Tim Norris is retiring after three decades of service to the Madison campus.
Norris first joined UW–Madison in 1989 and has led the budget office since 2004.
Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Laurent Heller says Norris led the office through a time of unprecedented challenges and technological changes.
“Tim’s retirement will mark the end of an outstanding career at UW–Madison,” Heller says. “Tim has been guided by a deep commitment to UW–Madison and the state of Wisconsin. He has protected our academic mission while making the budget process work for the university and for colleagues across the campus.”
The budget director is responsible for developing and managing UW–Madison’s $3 billion annual budget and ensuring that the university complies with all state, federal and UW System budget requirements.
Jennifer Klippel will serve as interim budget director. Klippel joined the UW–Madison Budget Office in 2011 and has worked on a wide range of budget and financial issues. She previously worked at UW System and the Legislative Audit Bureau.
“Jennifer has deep experience and brings a varied perspective to the job,” Heller says. “I have the utmost confidence that Jennifer will do an excellent job in this leadership role.”
