Leaders named, searches start
Three finalists have been chosen for director of the Wisconsin Union, and during the summer, several new campus leaders were appointed as searches for others got under way.
The Wisconsin Union finalists are Mark Guthier, assistant director for program services for the Indiana Memorial Union at Indiana University; David Mucci, director of the Kansas Unions at the University of Kansas; and Richard Pierce, assistant director of the Wisconsin Union, facilities.
Here is the status of other leadership changes:
Michael Hinden, associate dean of international studies and professor of English, will serve as the interim dean of international studies while the university conducts its search for a permanent dean. Three finalists are in the running to become the permanent dean succeeding David Trubek, who now directs the Center for World Affairs and the Global Economy. Gilles Bousquet, |professor of French and chair of the Department of French and Italian at UW–Madison; Holli Semetko, professor of audience and public opinion research at the University of Amsterdam; and Anand Yang, professor of history and director of Asian Studies at the University of Utah.
At the School of Business, R.D. Nair will be interim dean effective Sept. 1. Nair will serve until a dean is appointed to succeed Dean Andrew J. Policano, who returns to teaching.
At Transportation Services, Michael Lovejoy, current director of business and staff services at Facilities Planning and Management, will serve as interim director. Former director Lori Kay has become a consultant who will help complete an overhaul of campus fleet operations.
At University Health Services, Kathleen Poi, interim executive director, has been appointed to the position permanently. Poi, a clinical professor in the School of Nursing, has spent 33 years at UHS in positions of increasing responsibility.
Administering an annual budget of approximately $8 million, Poi will continue to lead the UHS senior management team in the overall direction and implementation of UHS programs.
“I have spent the bulk of my career at UW–Madison and look forward to helping UHS continue to improve the services it provides to this campus,” Poi says.
