Parallel Press releases Robin Chapman book

July 11, 2001 By Donald Johnson

As if it isn’t hot enough this summer, UW–Madison poet Robin Chapman takes readers on a journey through the Florida Everglades in “The Only Everglades in the World,” the latest chapbook of the Parallel Press.

Chapman’s words reflect both a remarkable adventure and a disquieting odyssey in this 11-piece collection. A chapbook is a small-format literary work, usually of poetry or essays. The chapbooks are published by the Parallel Press, an imprint of the UW–Madison Libraries. This marks the 14th release for the press.

Chapman is a professor emerita in the Department of Communicative Disorders and the Waisman Center, which is dedicated to research on human development and developmental disabilities.

Chapman is the author of poetry collections including “Distance, Rate, Time,” “Learning to Talk,” the poetry CD “Banff Dreaming” and “The Way In,” which won the Council of Wisconsin Writers’ 1999 Posner Book-Length Poetry Award.

Chapman has published numerous poems in literary journals including Poetry, The Hudson Review, The American Scholar, The Southern Review, and The Iowa Review.

Each Parallel Press chapbook is $10; annual subscriptions for six are $50. Titles may be ordered by writing: The Parallel Press, 372 Memorial Library, 728 State St. Madison, WI 53706.
