ONPA changes name

Physical plant information now available on the Web
The Physical Plant Department now provides information on projects and service calls through a Web site. Physical Plant director John Harrod says the site is intended to provide ongoing information about department services and to foster communication with customers concerning work status and procedures. New resource on Web for prevention programs
To aid alcohol abuse prevention specialists in Wisconsin colleges and technical schools, the state Department of Transportation has teamed up with the Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Prevention Resources to launch a Web site with statistics, research, strategies and “promising practices” to develop new and evaluate existing prevention programs.
The site also provides funding sources, trends and tips on finding and writing grants to increase the capacity of programs. The online resources are designed to curb alcohol and other drug use that may lead to impaired driving. Visit: http://www.uhs.wisc.edu/wch/WCHDOT/
Subsidiary to help inventors
UW System campuses will be able to harness the commercial potential of their research discoveries through a new subsidiary of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation called WiSys Technology Foundation Inc.
Terrace: The best of Madison
The Memorial Union Terrace has been named “Best Live Music Venue” and “Best Cheap Thrill” in the annual “Best of Madison” listings compiled from reader responses to a Madison Magazine survey.
Future truck takes fifth in national challenge
The university’s Future Truck team steered its revamped Chevy Suburban to a fifth place overall finish in a national contest June 15 in the Arizona desert. The Future Truck Competition, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and General Motors, pitted 15 college teams with the goal of a greener sport utility vehicle.
