“Day on Campus’ planned
The 40th annual “Day on Campus” Friday, May 12, will kick off the Wisconsin Alumni Association’s Alumni Weekend. Presentations include:

• “The News Media and the 2000 Presidential Campaign,” James Baughman, professor of journalism and mass communication.
• “Status of Wisconsin Wildlife at the Dawn of a New Millennium,” Scott Craven, professor of wildlife ecology.
• “Kennecott Journey: An Introduction to Environmental History,” William Cronon, professor of history.
• “Slow Down – and Get More Done,” Marshall Cook, professor of continuing studies.
• “Successful Aging: Making the Most of the Later Years,” Carol Ryff, professor of psychology and director of the Institute on Aging.
• “Health Care in the 21st Century: How Far Have We Come and How Far Can We Go?” Dennis Maki, professor of medicine.

‘Nora’ now playing
Katherine Hosinger-Marshall and Baron Kelly appear in Ibsen’s “Nora,” a story of a woman’s journey to self-realization, playing at 7:30 p.m. May 3-7 at Mitchell Theatre, Vilas Hall. Tickets: $10 public, $7 students, Vilas Hall box office.

Reading expert to speak
Reading expert Elfrieda Hiebert will highlight the School of Education’s 70th anniversary celebration Saturday, May 13. Hiebert’s presentation, “The Reading Wars: Content and Consequences,” 9:30 a.m., 204 Educational Sciences, will include a historical look at reading education, challenges schools face today and what the challenges mean for literacy.

Festival features student work
This year’s student-organized Festival of Interarts and Technology, sponsored by the Dance Program, features student-created multimedia presentations. The free public event, is scheduled 6-10 p.m. Friday, May 5, in Lathrop Hall. Reception, 7:30-8 p.m., and after the event. Information: 262-1691.
