Diversity inventory program aims to highlight, connect campus initiatives
UW-Madison has launched the Diversity Inventory Program (DIP), a searchable online database of programs, services and other activities related to diversity on campus.
Following the guidance of the university’s Diversity Framework, Chancellor Rebecca Blank requested the campus-wide inventory to improve knowledge about diversity resources and enhance coordination of activities among campus partners. The program also responds to calls from students and alumni for better communication about actions being taken to improve campus climate.
“We are extremely excited about the launch of DIP,” says Patrick Sims, vice provost for diversity, equity and educational achievement (DDEEA), the division leading the program. “DIP will provide students, faculty, staff, alumni, and future Badger families a single place to find information about diversity activities. For those looking for a tangible way to help promote diversity and inclusion, I urge you to add your activities into the database.”
The Diversity Inventory Program can be found at diversity.wisc.edu. All faculty and staff are invited to submit details about their activities that focus on diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in the classroom. These can include activities, programs, events, support services and research. In addition, DDEEA will be in touch with deans, department chairs and other administrators asking them to designate individuals who will be responsible for submitting information about each administrative unit’s programs.
During this introductory phase, training on the effective use of the DIP database will be available in person and via webinars. Participating in DIP is one way everyone can carry out the University’s Diversity Framework.
