Faculty, staff invited to Second Thursday kickoff

The School of Business and the College of Letters and Science will co-host the first Second Thursday reception of the new semester Thursday, Sept. 9, from 4-6 p.m. in the Grainger Hall courtyard and deli.

All faculty and staff are invited. Organizers encourage new employees to take advantage of this opportunity to get acquainted with other members of the university community.

The event includes food, refreshments and musical entertainment. Representatives from the State, UW and University Hospital and Clinics Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) will also be on hand to help kick off this fall’s charity fund-raising effort, which begins Oct. 11.

Last year, about 3,800 university and UW System employees gave $895,656 to the campaign, with an average contribution of $238. Organizers credited volunteers and contributors for making the 1998 effort the most successful in SECC’s 25-year history.

Details of other Second Thursday gatherings this semester will be announced later.
