Pro Arte Quartet featured at Madison Art Center event
UW–Madison’s Pro Arte Quartet will be the featured performers in the Thursday, April 15, installment of the Madison Art Center-Madison Symphony celebration of the 20th century’s art, “Decade by Decade.”
Music and visual art created during the 1940s will be highlighted. The Pro Arte will perform Prokofiev’s String Quartet No. 2 in F, Op. 92; Sessions’ Duo for Violin and Piano; and Britten’s String Quartet No. 2 in C. On the visual art agenda will be works by Joan Miro, Roberto Matta, Gertrude Abercrombie and Wisconsin’s own John Wilde.
In addition to music and art from the period, the presentation will feature a lecture by Jo Ortel of Beloit College. Tickets are $15 ($12 for Art Center members and Madison Symphony season ticket holders), and are available through the Madison Symphony Orchestra office, (608) 257-3734.
