Basketball coaches lead daybreak talk
When one thinks of basketball coaches facing off, daybreak is not the first time that comes to mind.
But Badgerball coach Jane Albright-Dieterle and men’s coach Dick Bennett will discuss the future and fates of their teams during the next sesquicentennial breakfast, scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, in Tripp Commons, Memorial Union.
As their seasons get under way, the coaches will discuss “Men’s and Women’s Basketball: Prologue to the Future,” before taking questions from the audience. As part of the celebration for the university’s 150th anniversary, the Daybreak Discussions series provides an opportunity for campus and community members to gather, reflect on the past and look to the future. The discussions are scheduled for each month (except January) during this academic year. Open to all, the talks begin at 7:30 a.m. and conclude by 8:45 a.m.
At the next event on Tuesday, Dec. 8, Paul Soglin, former mayor of Madison and UW alum, will discuss town-gown relations. Soglin will use a historical perspective, from medieval days through modern times, to lead into his discussion of Madison and the university.
The series is sponsored by the UW Chancellor’s Office, the Morgridge Center for Public Service and The Wisconsin Union. For more information, contact the Morgridge Center at 263-2432.
