Recent Sightings Recent sightings: Nepali vigil
On April 29, 2015, members of the campus and Madison communities gathered near the State Capitol and listened to speakers during a candlelight vigil hosted by the UW Nepal Student Association. The event was held to honor the victims of a massive earthquake that struck just outside Kathmandu, killing more than 5,000 people on April 26.

The vigil was held at the State Street corner of the Capitol Square.
Attendees were given candles to light during the ceremony.
Organizers accepted donations to help surviving victims of the earthquake.
Young spectators carried messages of condolence and support.
Candles were lit in remembrance of the 5,000 people who perished in the disaster.
