CAVR’s Gonzales wins national ‘Rising Star’ award
Nick Gonzales, a member of the UW–Madison Campus and Visitor Relations staff, has been selected for the “Rising Star” award by the Campus Information and Visitor Services Association (CIVSA). In addition to winning the national award, Gonzales was elected to serve on the organization’s executive board as the new director of communications.

Gonzales, an outreach specialist with Campus and Visitor Relations, was honored with the award at the 2014 annual CIVSA conference in Chicago. The award recognized his strong leadership in developing the 2014 conference program and mobile app, his service as the chair of the conference’s publicity and promotions committee, and his contributions to the association’s strategic planning efforts.
“It’s such an honor to receive this award,” Gonzales says. “Through my new position with the association, I look forward to the opportunity of continuing to represent UW–Madison at the national level.”
The award is presented to a person who has been a CIVSA member for at least one year, but less than three years, and who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession of information and visitor services as well as the association. The only other member from UW–Madison to win an award from the group was Steven Saffian, in 1998.
