Evening MBA Program Approved by Regents
The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents approved tuition rates Dec. 5 for a new evening MBA program to be offered by the School of Business beginning next fall.
The evening MBA is designed for working people who want to earn an advanced business degree by attending evening classes.
“This new program will enable people to achieve an MBA while also meeting the daily demands of the workplace, family and home,” says Business School Dean Andrew J. Policano. “Surveys of area companies indicate strong support for an evening MBA.” Policano says employers surveyed also indicated they would offer employees at least partial tuition reimbursement.
The regents approved a tuition charge of $28,000 for the three-year program. The program will accept approximately 40-50 students its first year, says Policano.
Students in the program will start the program as a group, take the same courses and remain together until they graduate. This design, says Policano, will help build cohesiveness in a group of students who come from diverse backgrounds and may never see one another during their work days.
Entrance requirements will be similar to that of the full-time MBA in terms of work experience, grade point averages and GMAT scores. The full MBA curriculum will be offered in the evening, requiring 48 credits, the same number as the full-time MBA. The core curricula will also be identical to the full-time MBA, but the evening MBA will offer a single general management concentration rather than a selection of area concentrations.
The School of Business plans to offer a full complement of support services in the evening to make the program user-friendly for part-time students.
