Nine Faculty Chosen for ‘The Madison 50’

Nine faculty members will be named as part of “The Madison 50” in the November issue of Madison Magazine, available on newsstands Oct. 27. The list, chosen by the magazine’s staff, editors and writers, is comprised of people in Madison who have had an impact on the community, according to Madison Magazine editor Brian Howell.

Named as people who have reputations beyond Madison are Joanne Cantor, professor of communication arts; Don Kettl, professor of political science and director of the LaFollette Institute; Larry Landweber, professor of computer science; Richard Love, professor of medicine in the UW Comprehensive Cancer Research Center; Nellie McKay, professor of Afro-American studies and English; and Joel Rogers, professor of law and industrial relations.

Chosen for their sex appeal and magnetism are Glenn Gourley, professor of pediatrics; Lorrie Moore, professor of English; and Gail Robertson, assistant professor of physiology.

Also included on the list are several students and retired faculty and staff including Paul Ginsberg, former dean of students; Rudy and Ilse Hecht, former doctor and nurse at the medical school; Geshe Lhundup Sopa, retired professor of South Asian Studies; and Dora Zúñiga, a UW–Madison senior and former director of Centro Hispano of Dane County.
