UW Community to Particpate in ‘Day of Caring’
More than 300 UW–Madison students, faculty, staff and administrators have volunteered their services during a “Day of Caring” Sept. 13.
The half-day event, sponsored jointly by UW–Madison and the United Way of Dane County, will begin at noon. Organizers hope it will introduce new members of the university community to the area as well as provide needed services for senior citizens such as painting and yard work, environmental cleanup, visits to nursing home residents and children’s activities.
Sites will include the Salvation Army, Madison Coalitions for the Elderly, Habitat for Humanity, YWCA, Madison Children’s Museum, Dane County Parks, and Bernie’s Place.
UW–Madison Dean of Students Mary Rouse, Madison Mayor Sue Bauman and County Executive Kathleen Falk are expected to participate.
