Contest seeks amazing science images
Imaging has brought a revolution to science. A wide variety of amazing visuals that offer glimpses into the unseen world are increasingly gaining esthetic recognition.
To highlight the visual and scientific value of these images, the second annual Cool Science Image Contest is soliciting the best images from students and scientists of the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
This photo, last year’s winning entry, captures an up-close look at cotton pollen.
The contest offers any currently enrolled student, staff or faculty member a rare opportunity to show off their compelling science images. The inaugural contest in 2011 drew more than 60 entries from talented individuals; winners and finalists are showcased here.
To enter images, click here for guidelines and submission requirements. The submission deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 28.
Winners will receive a $100 Downtown Madison gift certificate and their image will be published on The Why Files. All qualified entries will be displayed in a slide show at the Wisconsin Science Festival in September.
