Forum on Oct. 27 engages campus on Administrative Excellence

October 24, 2011 By Dennis Chaptman

A campuswide conversation about being effective stewards of the university’s resources continues in the first Administrative Excellence forum on Thursday, Oct. 27 at Union South.

The session, which will be held in Varsity Hall from 2–4 p.m., will afford the campus community a chance to provide feedback on a number of suggestions for improving the way the university works.

Administrative Excellence is a key UW–Madison initiative to review and improve a variety of functional areas and business practices. These include purchasing practices, information technology, human resources, facilities management, auxiliary operations, and several others.

The Huron Consulting Group has been assisting in the effort by interviewing staff, and collecting and analyzing data. It then provides the findings to directors of each affected area and the to the campus Advisory Committee and Steering Committee, which includes top university administrators.

Functional-area reviews are almost complete. Some of the initiative’s findings and opportunities for greater efficiency will be presented at the forum and feedback from campus and key stakeholders will be sought out.

All university staff members are invited to the forum and may attend without loss of pay.

Staff should make arrangements with their supervisors before attending. No registration is required. This campus forum will also be video streamed and viewable from the Administrative Excellence website at http://www.adminexcellence.wisc.edu using Internet Explorer and Windows media player.
