UW-Madison’s reputation among top for world universities
The University of Wisconsin–Madison is among the world’s top institutions when it comes to reputation for teaching and research, according to a new set of rankings from Times Higher Education.
UW-Madison ranked 25th, making it one of 17 U.S. universities in the top 25 and one of the six U.S public institutions in that same group. The top five institutions were Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Cambridge, the University of California, Berkeley, and Stanford University.
The rankings are based on a survey of nearly 13,400 academics in 131 countries. Times Higher Education says it’s the largest such evaluation of academic reputation and that such measures are increasingly important in a competitive global market for students, academics and university administrators.
“These rankings confirm what we’ve long known about the quality and impact of our research and teaching at UW–Madison and how that’s perceived throughout the world,” says Provost Paul M. DeLuca Jr. “That will be critical to our ongoing success as a world-class research institution in the coming years.”
