Kevin Henkes, award-winning children’s author and illustrator, visits Vilas Hall; seats available for TV taping

Award-winning children’s book author and illustrator Kevin Henkes will join an audience of UW–Madison students and friends for a taping of Wisconsin Reflections, airing on the Big Ten Network.

Students and community members interested in joining the audience are invited to the taping on Thursday, March 3 at 9:45 a.m. in the Wisconsin Public Television studios, 2nd floor, Vilas Hall, 821 University Ave.

Henkes, a native of Racine, was awarded the Caldecott Medal for “Kitten’s First Full Moon,” a Newbery Honor for “Olive’s Ocean,” and a Caldecott Honor for “Owen.” His recent work includes the picture book “Little White Rabbit” (January 2011) and the novel “Junonia” (June 2011).

The time commitment for this taping will be roughly 90 minutes, including a question-and-answer period. (Please note that the show is not geared toward children.)
