Madison police seek info on weekend incidents

The Madison Police Department is seeking information two unrelated downtown incidents.

In the first, a UW–Madison student was robbed at knifepoint in the 1200 block Bowen Court while walking from his home to a convenience store in the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 7.

The victim said two men approached him from behind as he cut across Bowen Court shortly after midnight. One of the men had a knife and demanded money. The victim took cash from his wallet, which the robber grabbed.

The first suspect is described as male, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 160 to 180 pounds, average build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, with a dark bandana over his face. He was armed with a knife.

The second is a male, 20 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall, 160 to 170 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans.

In the second incident, a UW–Madison student flagged down police on State Street early Saturday, Nov. 6 after being mugged in the 500 block of State Street. The victim said he was walking when five men approached. One pushed him up against a signpost and told him to empty his pockets. The victim handed over his cell phone and wallet. The robber took the wallet and returned the phone. No weapons were seen or mentioned.

A suspect in the incident is described as a black male, 20 years old, 5 feet, 2 inches to 5 feet, 3 inches tall, with a heavy build, cornrows or braids in hair, wearing a blue and white checkered shirt.
