Show Badger spirit by wearing red and white on Fridays
On Friday, Sept. 4, the decision on what to wear should be an easy one for the Badger faithful. Show support for the University of Wisconsin–Madison and wear Wisconsin gear to celebrate the fifth annual College Colors Day.
Need something red to wear? The Red Shirt is a limited line of T-shirts developed by the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) to help fund scholarships and programming. The Red Shirt, priced at $15, is now available online.
All Badger fans, students, faculty, staff and alumni should throw on their favorite college hats, T-shirts, ties or jewelry and head to work or campus in full Wisconsin spirit.
“One day where everyone wears their Badger red is great, but we’d like to encourage Badger supporters to get in the habit of wearing their UW red and white every Friday throughout the year,” says Cindy Van Matre, UW–Madison director of trademark licensing.
College Colors Day, in partnership with NCAA football, is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience by encouraging fans across America to wear their favorite university apparel throughout the day on Sept. 4. It is celebrated by thousands of individuals, organizations, and business locations nationwide.
Additionally, College Colors Day, which coincides with “back to school” and the kickoff of 2009-10 intercollegiate athletics, strives to advocate higher education through increased public awareness and celebrates the achievements of colleges and universities, acknowledging their fundamental importance.
