Veterinary diagnostic lab maintains full accreditation

The Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL) has been granted full accreditation by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD).

Accreditation was awarded subsequent to a November site visit, a stringent three-day evaluation process that included a review of the laboratory’s quality assurance system, facilities and personnel. Accreditation is for a full five-year renewal, the longest term that can be granted.

The WVDL, a full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratory, is located on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus, with a branch laboratory in Barron, Wis. The laboratory provides a broad range of diagnostic tests to the production, companion and exotic animal industries, including surveillance testing for a variety of animal diseases (such as brucellosis and chronic wasting disease) and tests to qualify animals, semen and embryos for interstate and international shipment.

The AAVLD is a not-for-profit professional organization that accredits veterinary diagnostic laboratories in the United States and Canada. Among its goals is the establishment of uniform diagnostic techniques and accepted guidelines for the improvement of veterinary diagnostic laboratories.
