UW-Madison lifts advisory against travel to Mexico

May 26, 2009

Based on the recommendation of the International Emergency Response Committee (IERC), UW–Madison Chancellor Biddy Martin has lifted the campus advisory on nonessential travel to Mexico.

The lifting of the travel advisory aligns with the recommendation from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Student programs scheduled to begin after June 1 will depart as planned.

The IERC continues to advise all travelers to closely monitor travel recommendations from the CDC and U.S Department of State and to consult the embassy of the country they will be traveling to for further information prior to any departure. Travelers who are sick with an influenza-like illness (fever, sore throat and/or cough) should not travel until their symptoms have resolved.
