HealthDay writer named biomedical writer in residence

HealthDay writer Amanda Gardner has already made the transition many other journalists now face — from writing for the print media to the virtual world.

Gardner will be the School of Medicine and Public Health’s biomedical writer in residence the week of March 30. She will interview UW–Madison researchers, teach students and give a public talk, “How Personal is Personalized Medicine,” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in the Memorial Union (check TITU for the room).

In 2006, Gardner was a stem-cell fellow at Tulane University School of Public Health. She holds a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary studies from the Union Institute and University, a master’s degree from New York University and a bachelor’s degree from Smith College.

She writes health articles for such publications as MORE magazine, Golf for Women magazine, Self magazine and others, and recently published a book, “Albuquerque Almanac.”
