Local alumni to host dinners for 200 UW-Madison students

The biannual Dinners On Wisconsin! program will strengthen relationships among University of Wisconsin–Madison alumni and current undergraduates when students enjoy home-cooked meals at the homes of graduates and learn about the professional world from alumni with firsthand experience.

Dinners On Wisconsin!, to be held Monday, April 14, and Tuesday, April 15, will host groups of 10-12 students for each dinner. Each semester, Dinners On Wisconsin! draws Dane County alumni from a wide range of professional backgrounds. The spring lineup features 30 dinner topics and hosts, ranging from nursing to nanotechnology, and from venture capitalism to teaching. This semester’s hosts include former Wisconsin Gov. Tony Earl and current Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz.

The Dinners On Wisconsin! program has been recognized nationally for its success, winning the bronze "Best Outreach Program" in the nation honor, awarded by the Association for Student Advancement Programs. During the past eight semesters, Dinners On Wisconsin! has connected more than 1,000 students with area alumni.

"I attended Dinners On Wisconsin! in the fall of 2007, and it was the most influential and valuable experience of my college career," says past attendee Katie Lary.

Dinners on Wisconsin! are organized by the Wisconsin Alumni Student Board (WASB), a nonprofit, registered student organization at UW–Madison that is empowered by the Wisconsin Alumni Association. WASB’s focus is achieving the organization’s mission of linking students past, present and future.
