Greek community opens doors to Madison trick-or-treaters
For the ninth consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin–Madison Greek community is opening its doors to underprivileged Madison children for Halloween.
Fraternities and sororities participating in the "Trick or Treat with the Greeks" event will bus in more than 300 children from 10 after-school programs and community centers for an evening of games, costumes, pumpkins, some tricks, and plenty of treats.
The event will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, all along Langdon Street.
"Sororities and fraternities look forward to this event all year," says Becca MacAskill, Panhellenic Association vice president of philanthropy and community service. "With over 300 laughing and smiling faces trick-or-treating up and down Langdon Street, you can’t help but to have a great time."
The event rests on the coordination and participation of the UW Greek Community including the Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, the National Pan Hellenic Council, and the Panhellenic Association.
"We’re so thankful for the enthusiastic support we’ve received from our Madison community partners," says Adam Charles Korn, Interfraternity Council vice president of service. "Without their help, this event wouldn’t have been possible."
