Chancellor to speak on the arts in higher education

Leadership skills, creativity, self esteem, critical thinking, improved academic performance, tolerance, values and problem solving – are those viewed as frills or are they seen as important benefits provided by the arts in the campus setting?

Chancellor John Wiley, a strong supporter of the arts, will discuss their positive role in higher education as part of the University Club Luncheon Series tomorrow (Oct. 17). His talk will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the University Club, located at 803 State St.

The University Club, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2007, strives to foster the social, cultural, and intellectual life of the campus and the greater Madison community. The chancellor’s talk is one in a series of University Club presentations featuring UW–Madison faculty and students.
